Every year The National Black Theatre of Sweden remembers the African persons, freed from slavery under Swedish rule in 1847. It commemorates ‘the door’ through which enslaved Africans passed. Held in bondage, until they were forced upon ships that would divide them as families, children, communities from each other to experience a life, violence, servitude.
The event strives to affirm this is a place we will never return to – a door that we will never go through again. This year’s theme is Community – everyday individual’s creative life. This year’s event is the sharing of work from community, NBTS community Ensemble, Nappy Hair Market, NBTS writer’s community and much more. This is a family event. This is a community event.
We are delighted to return to one of our homes at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern Vällingby.
